The reviewed publication is dedicated to the Serbian dialects of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija within the Republic of Serbia (a partially recognized state as the Republic of Kosovo). The book, comprising conference materials presented on 15th October 2019 in Belgrade, provides an overview of the achievements in Serbian linguistics concerning the study of the language situation of the Serbian dialects in this region over the past decades. It covers topics such as the history and position of these dialects in the Serbian dialect continuum, descriptions of individual dialects and their groups, dialectal classification within this territory, dialectal lexicography and lexicology, including onomastics, discourse analysis, traditional ethnolinguistics, sociolinguistics, and bibliography. The publication outlines the strategy and methodology for the upcoming comprehensive research on these dialects. The book is particularly beneficial for experts in Serbian philology and dialectology, but its audience should undoubtedly be expanded to include researchers in Slavic and Balkan linguistics, contact linguistics, areal studies, Slavic and Balkan dialectology and ethnolinguistics, variation linguistics, as well as general and theoretical linguistics.
