Non-canonical standards of comparison and phrasal approach to comparatives in the Bashkir language
Tikhomirov D. O. Nekanonicheskiye
standarty sravneniya ifrazovyy podkhod k izucheniyu komparativovv
bashkirskom yazyke. Acta Linguistica Petropolitana.

The article is dedicated to the
non-canonical standards of comparison in the Bashkir comparative
constructions; namely, how non-NP standards are combined with the
case markers that encode the standard of comparison. The research
also focused on the question of comparative deletion, or ellipsis,
and whether it is present in the Bashkir comparatives. It has been
discovered that when the standard is expressed by an element
distinct from an NP, its word class is changed: for example,
adverbs receive an adjectival suffix, and verbs are transformed
into past participle forms. It has been found that there is no
comparative in Bashkir comparatives, and thus, the phrasal approach
to their analysis is recommended.
